Role Summary
The Technician role involves routine servicing, preventive maintenance, diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repair of Volvo trucks and buses, following Volvo standards, DOMASCO workshop protocols, and safety regulations. The technician ensures efficient, safe repairs are completed timely, supporting customer satisfaction and workshop productivity.
Responsibilities
- Execute servicing, preventive care, inspections, diagnostics, and repairs on Volvo heavy vehicles adhering to manufacturer and dealer standards.
- Diagnose and fix mechanical, electrical, electronic, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues using authorized diagnostic tools and methodologies.
- Complete work orders within set repair times and adhere to service schedules while maintaining craftsmanship quality.
- Follow Volvo technical specs, repair guidelines, service manuals, and instructions from workshop leadership carefully.
- Interpret mechanical and electrical schematics accurately for troubleshooting purposes.
- Use Volvo-approved diagnostic equipment, technical data systems, and workshop tools effectively.
- Conduct thorough root cause analysis and systematic troubleshooting to resolve faults efficiently.
- Perform required calibrations, programming, and tests using approved diagnostic devices to ensure optimal vehicle condition.
- Carry out post-repair quality checks to confirm vehicle safety and reliability prior to delivery.
- Identify and report additional repair needs discovered during inspections promptly to the workshop supervisor or service advisor.
- Maintain detailed and accurate job records including diagnostics, repairs, and replacement parts.
- Comply strictly with warranty repair procedures and documentation requirements.
- Keep tools, equipment, and workspace orderly and maintain good housekeeping standards within the workshop.
- Adhere to all health, safety, and environmental policies and practices at the workshop.
- Minimize rework and comebacks by executing correct diagnostics and repair techniques.
- Complete necessary Volvo technical trainings and e-learning courses within timelines.
- Assist fellow technicians and contribute to ongoing technical improvements team-wide.
- Maintain professionalism and clear communication channels with supervisors, peers, and departments.
- Support workshop goals focused on productivity, efficiency, quality, turnaround times, and customer satisfaction.
Candidate Requirements
- Diploma or certificate in Automotive, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, or related fields.
- Strong technical expertise in heavy commercial vehicle maintenance, preferably Volvo trucks and buses.
- Ability to interpret technical schematics for electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems.
- Proficiency in utilizing Volvo Workshop Service Manuals and authorized diagnostic tools.
- Previous experience repairing and servicing Volvo trucks and buses is advantageous.
- Familiarity with electronic diagnostic systems and technical service information platforms is beneficial.
- Commitment to workplace safety, quality workmanship, and first-time-right repairs.
- Strong analytical, diagnostic, and problem-solving capabilities.
- Excellent attention to detail and precision in task execution.
- Efficient time management skills to complete assigned duties within deadlines.
- Ability to function independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
