About the Company and Role

We are collaborating with an early-stage AI HealthTech startup based in Munich city centre, focused on transforming smartphones into devices capable of screening over 60 biomarkers from facial features, voice, and eye data—all in under two minutes without additional hardware. This seed-funded company is already generating substantial recurring revenue and aiming to build its first permanent internal team by hiring a Founding Data Scientist.

Role Overview

As the first dedicated data science hire, you will take full ownership of the machine learning stack from research through to production deployment. This role expects you to build, deploy, and manage real ML models used by actual users, playing a pivotal role in shaping both scientific and product direction. There is a clear growth path to becoming the Head of Data Science as the team expands.

Key Responsibilities

• Designing and implementing machine learning models powering customer-facing features such as recommendation systems, biomarker estimation from multimodal data (video, audio, text), and signal processing.
• Working with one of the most comprehensive digital twin datasets, including voice recordings, facial videos, eye images, digital biomarkers, and blood biomarker data.
• Contributing to advancing the "Doctor AI" reasoning engine that generates evidence-based medical protocols and laying foundations for a conversational medical assistant.
• Collaborating closely with the founding team and ML Lead to define the data science technical strategy.

Candidate Profile and Requirements

• Strong background in statistics and machine learning with proven experience developing and deploying production-ready models.
• Ownership mindset, comfortable working in ambiguous environments without delegating responsibilities.
• Proficient in Python and experienced with deep learning frameworks like PyTorch, recommendation systems, or signal processing methods.
• Solid understanding of the end-to-end software development lifecycle.
• Advanced degree (MSc or PhD) in Statistics, Machine Learning, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
• Experience in regulated industries such as healthcare or banking is highly advantageous.
• Research experience and publications in scientific journals are considered a plus.
• A commitment to impactful work that contributes meaningfully to healthcare improvement.

• Candidates from healthtech, digital health, biomedical AI sectors, or fast-paced startup/scaleup environments where autonomy and quality delivery are critical.

Compensation and Other Details

• Annual salary ranges from €90,000 to €130,000 based on experience.
• Equity participation at the founding level is available.
