Headless CMS Solutions Architect

Position Overview

This role is offered through a partner company seeking an experienced Headless CMS Solutions Architect located in Saudi Arabia. It is a senior-level, client-interfacing position centered around designing scalable, modern digital content platforms using headless and composable CMS technologies.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead discovery sessions, including client workshops and stakeholder interviews, to understand comprehensive business, editorial, technical, security, and content requirements.
• Analyze and document current systems and transform that insight into scalable digital platform architectures for the future.
• Evaluate multiple headless CMS platforms such as Storyblok, Sanity, Contentful, and Strapi, objectively recommending solutions that fit client criteria including technical constraints and scalability.
• Design reusable content models, schemas, taxonomies, metadata structures, and composable architectures for content creation and presentation.
• Develop editorial workflows incorporating approval processes, role-based permissions, localization, and publishing methods.
• Design integrations between CMS platforms and enterprise applications including APIs and other digital systems.
• Produce architectures supporting multilingual content, accessibility, SEO, search functionality, governance, and adhere to modern web standards.
• Plan CMS migration strategies from legacy platforms such as Drupal, WordPress, Sitecore, and custom-built systems.
• Assess and design how headless CMS solutions interact within AWS cloud environments, leveraging services such as S3, CloudFront, Lambda, API Gateway, ECS/EKS, RDS, DynamoDB, OpenSearch, Cognito, IAM, Route 53, WAF, Secrets Manager, CloudWatch, and EventBridge.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with front-end developers, cloud and DevOps teams, security specialists, UX designers, and other developers to ensure architectural feasibility.
• Create architecture diagrams, technical documentation, solution roadmaps, and technology recommendations.
• Communicate architectural designs and recommendations effectively to various audiences, including executives, business teams, IT, and developers.
• Identify and address technical risks, dependencies, and scalability challenges during discovery and architecture planning.
• Constructively challenge client requirements where simpler, more maintainable solutions exist.
• Support implementation planning to ensure alignment between technical solutions and business goals.

Required Qualifications

• Extensive experience with headless CMS and composable digital platform architectures.
• Proven hands-on expertise with at least two platforms from Storyblok, Sanity, Contentful, and Strapi; broad familiarity with the CMS ecosystem is advantageous.
• In-depth practical knowledge of Storyblok features including Visual Editor, components, workflows, localization, permissions, and APIs.
• Practical experience with Sanity Studio, structured content definitions, GROQ queries, Content Lake, customized editorial workflows, and integrations.
• Experience with Contentful including content modeling, localization, environment management, permissions, workflows, and APIs.
• Familiarity with Strapi capabilities such as Content Type Builder, components, Dynamic Zones, REST and GraphQL APIs, permissions, plugins, and deployment options.
• Background leading discovery phases and recommending enterprise-grade digital platform solutions.
• Strong foundation in AWS cloud architecture, capable of collaborating with cloud and DevOps experts in solution design.
• Expertise in RESTful APIs, GraphQL, webhooks, API integration strategies, structured content management, and composable platform principles.
• Proficiency in JavaScript or TypeScript along with modern front-end frameworks such as React, Next.js, Vue, or Nuxt.
• Experience designing complex enterprise systems integrations and migration strategies for CMS.
• Deep knowledge of content governance models, multilingual content handling, role-based permissions, editorial workflow designs, technical SEO, accessibility standards, and current web technologies.
• Proven ability to create detailed architectural diagrams, technical documentation, roadmaps, and technology evaluations.
• Excellent consulting, communication, facilitation, and presentation skills, translating complex technical ideas clearly for varied stakeholders.
• Comfort in working collaboratively with executives, content teams, IT departments, developers, and specialized technical staff.
• Capability to objectively assess technology options, identify key risks and dependencies, and explain architectural trade-offs.
• Additional beneficial experience includes enterprise search, digital asset management, CRM, LMS, marketing automation, analytics, identity platforms, AWS Solutions Architect certification, CMS certifications, Node.js, Terraform/IaC, CI/CD, and DevOps practices.
