Job description

Position Overview

The Sächsischen Staatstheater — Staatsoper Dresden and Staatsschauspiel Dresden invite applications for a Haushandwerker*in (handworker) position at the Staatsschauspiel Dresden division, starting November 1, 2026.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform standard caretaker duties to maintain the Kleine Haus and the Schauspielhaus in excellent condition.
  • Monitor building operations, independently resolve technical malfunctions, and conduct essential maintenance tasks.
  • Execute minor repairs, touch-ups, and painting tasks promptly and dependably.
  • Maintain outdoor green areas and ensure pathways are safe, including during winter seasons.
  • Carry out cleaning activities supporting facility cleanliness.
  • Provide hands-on assistance during exciting events and festivals.
  • Oversee work performed by external companies in building technology and supervise the quality of facility cleaning.

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • Completed vocational training in a skilled or technical field, preferably within construction, carpentry, or locksmith trades.
  • Possession of a Class B driving license (having Class C or CE is a plus).
  • Capability to lift and carry heavy loads without difficulty.
  • Availability for shifts during evenings and weekends.
  • Reliable, self-driven work ethic with strong initiative.
  • Friendly, communicative personality with an enjoyment of working collaboratively with others.
  • Interest in the artistic processes occurring behind the scenes.
