Group Risk Manager, Technology & Data

About the Role

This permanent position in Wellington involves leading a strategic and operational enhancement of risk management within ACC’s Technology & Data division. As the Group Risk Manager - Technology & Data, you will operate at the nexus of technology, cyber security, privacy, AI, data governance, and enterprise risk management. In partnership with senior leaders and the Board, your role will be to identify and manage risk proactively, guiding effective business decisions and fostering organisational performance improvement.

You will lead a specialist team of two direct reports, building risk management capabilities and elevating organisational risk maturity. This role allows you to have enterprise-wide influence while contributing directly to ACC’s mission of enhancing safety for Kiwis at work, home, and beyond.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and drive the enterprise risk strategy across the Technology & Data domain.
• Lead and mentor a team of two direct reports, building specialist risk capabilities.
• Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leadership and board members on technology and data risk matters.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Significant expertise in risk management, technology risk, cyber security, privacy, compliance, or governance contexts.
• Hold a recognised professional qualification in Risk Management alongside relevant tertiary education.
• Deep understanding of enterprise risk frameworks, assurance processes, governance controls, and risk mitigation practices.
• Proven leadership experience fostering team accountability, transparency, and continuous improvement.
• Exceptional stakeholder management, communication prowess, and ability to influence without formal authority.
• Strong analytical skills with capacity to distill complex data into actionable business insights.
• Sound judgment, adaptability, resilience, and a proactive leadership style in times of change.
• Successful completion of a credit check is mandatory.

Compensation and Benefits

The salary range for this role is $138,301 to $178,978 per annum, depending on experience. ACC also provides a competitive benefits package, including a generous superannuation scheme with a 9% employer contribution requiring no mandatory employee contributions. Optional life and income protection insurance are also available.
