Role Overview
The Capability Lead will be instrumental in ACC's Long-Term Horizon programme, focusing on forecasting future skills, behaviors, leadership capabilities, and workforce needs essential to drive organisational transformation. Partnering closely with the Learning & Capability Team, senior leaders, programme leads, and the Workforce Design Lead, the role translates evolving work designs, operating model adjustments, and technological innovations into actionable capability strategies and implementation plans.
Key Responsibilities and Expectations
- Formulate and guide enterprise-wide capability strategies aligned with organisational transformation objectives.
- Engage effectively with a diverse set of stakeholders and influence decision-making at all levels.
- Develop and implement capability roadmaps and readiness programs supporting workforce adaptability.
- Identify capability gaps, assess risks, and establish development priorities to enable successful change management.
- Collaborate cross-functionally across programmes and business units to promote cohesive capability development.
Candidate Profile
- Extensive expertise in capability strategy, workforce planning, organisational design, or strategic consultancy.
- Demonstrable strategic thinking with the capacity to connect future operating models and technological changes to practical workforce solutions.
- Superior communication, facilitation, and stakeholder relationship skills.
- Proficient in recognizing capability shortfalls and developing targeted interventions.
- Strong collaboration competencies supporting multi-programme work environments.
- Keen understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and its integration in organisational practice.
- Eligible to work in New Zealand at the time of application.

Additional Information
This is a temporary interagency secondment role based in Wellington, available part-time or with reduced hours as an option. The appointment salary range is NZD 148,063 to 178,978 dependent on experience. ACC provides a comprehensive benefits package, including a generous 9% employer superannuation contribution without mandatory employee contributions and optional life and income protection insurance.
