Grocery Associate Full-Time

Overview

The Grocery Associate supports the department manager in achieving set sales and profitability targets. This role involves restocking items throughout the store and maintaining high standards of product freshness and presentation. Associates enhance customer trust and loyalty through consistent, respectful, and knowledgeable service. Primary Responsibilities

• Deliver attentive customer service by creating a welcoming atmosphere that encourages customer retention and trust.
• Ensure merchandise is displayed according to planogram standards, maintaining product availability, freshness, and correct shelf labeling.
• Provide product recommendations and assist customers in locating items.
• Promote teamwork and clear communication while upholding legal and company policies.
• Monitor stock and inventory quality; report discrepancies and maintain appropriate storage temperatures with documentation.
• Comply with food safety regulations including USDA, COOL, and DOA standards, executing recalls and withdrawals promptly.
• Adhere to safety and sanitation standards, identify hazards, report issues, and maintain equipment safety.
• Support wage and hour policies and foster a culture of safety within the department.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 16 years old and authorized to work in the U.S.
• Successful completion of pre-employment drug screening and background check.
• Strong customer service aptitude with excellent communication and motivational skills.
• Preferred bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish.
• Experience between 0 to 3 years; supervisory experience is beneficial.

Working Conditions

The job requires frequent standing, walking, manual dexterity, and repetitive movements. Associates regularly lift or carry loads up to 50 lbs and may occasionally lift up to 250 lbs. Tasks may involve reaching, kneeling, crouching, and climbing. Work environments include indoor, outdoor, heated, cold, and wet conditions. Exposure to safety risks such as slippery surfaces, noise, irritants, hazardous equipment, and cleaning chemicals is possible.

Equipment and Safety

• Use of cleaning tools, office and pricing equipment, registers, and material handling devices like pallet jacks is required.
• Personal protective equipment such as gloves, goggles, and back braces must be used as appropriate.

Additional Information

Shift schedules are varied. Associates under 18 years old are restricted from operating balers, compactors, certain machinery, ladders, knives beyond approved safety tools, and must follow child labor laws and company minor employment policies including work hour restrictions.
