Pricing Specialist

Overview

The Pricing Specialist is responsible for maintaining the accuracy and integrity of store pricing. This role manages price adjustments, resolves pricing discrepancies, and ensures all shelf labels and signs across departments are correct and up-to-date. It contributes to enhancing customer confidence and loyalty by enforcing consistent and compliant processes while delivering prompt and knowledgeable service. Key Duties

• Create a welcoming environment where customers feel valued, boosting confidence and loyalty.
• Conduct test scans across merchandise categories to verify price accuracy, product descriptions, department allocation, and tax status.
• Ensure all shelf labels, signs, and items without UPC codes display accurate pricing.
• Resolve discrepancies related to pricing and price files promptly.
• Complete daily and weekly administrative responsibilities such as communications, online training, and price updates.
• Inspect shelf labeling and signage regularly, taking corrective actions when inconsistencies are found.
• Support inventory planning and organization efforts.
• Verify that perishable products are stored at proper temperatures in compliance with food safety guidelines, maintaining temperature logs accordingly.
• Promote teamwork and collaboration by sharing relevant company, department, and job-specific information with associates.
• Coordinate price change implementations with store and department management to preserve pricing integrity and control.
• Adhere strictly to local, state, and federal laws along with company policies.
• Ensure compliance with safety, sanitation, food handling, and productivity standards.
• Follow regulatory guidelines related to food safety, USDA, Country of Origin Labeling (COOL), and Department of Agriculture requirements.
• Handle product recalls and withdrawals quickly and effectively, securing and removing products from customer access.
• Maintain a safe working environment by inspecting and reporting hazards, ensuring all associates follow safety procedures and training.
• Report any safety risks, accidents, or illegal activities such as theft or fraud immediately to management.
• Monitor wage and hour compliance within the department.
• Ensure availability and use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and maintain equipment safety and repair.

Additional Information

• May perform other job-related duties as assigned.
• Work involves frequent standing, walking, manual dexterity, lifting (up to 50 lbs.), pushing or carrying loads (up to 250 lbs.), occasional climbing, stooping, kneeling, and balancing.
• Work environments may include indoor, outdoor, cold/freezing, heated, and humid conditions.
• Exposure to safety risks such as slippery floors, hazardous equipment, loud noises, irritants, and toxins is possible.
• Equipment used includes cleaning supplies, computers, registers, pricing guns, scanners, pallet jacks, and occasionally balers or box cutters.
• PPE such as goggles, gloves, and back braces are used as needed.
• Travel is occasional with no overnight requirements.
• Work shifts vary.

Qualifications

• Candidates must be at least 18 years old.
• Authorization to work in the United States or ability to obtain it is mandatory.
• Successful completion of background check and pre-employment drug screening is required.
• High School diploma or GED is preferred.
• A minimum of 3 to 6 years supervisory experience is preferred but not mandatory.
• Fluency in English required; bilingual English and Spanish preferred.
• Strong customer service aptitude alongside excellent interpersonal, motivational, and communication abilities.
• Proficiency with computer programs relevant to department operations is necessary.
