Role Overview
As a Facilities Cost Control Engineer, you will oversee budgeting and financial control processes for construction and expansion projects within the semiconductor industry. Your work ensures projects remain within financial parameters while optimizing cost efficiency and supporting cross-functional collaboration.
Key Responsibilities
- Validate and monitor budgets, funds, expenses, forecasts, and contingency usage throughout project lifecycles.
- Develop and maintain cost estimates, forecasts, and control plans for new builds and expansions.
- Analyze project expenditures to detect variations from budgets and suggest corrective measures.
- Conduct financial risk assessments and devise mitigation strategies to limit budget overruns.
- Review material and subcontractor contracts to ensure alignment with project specs and budgets.
- Manage change orders and ensure cost control and approvals comply with Micron’s Construction Management of Change processes.
- Assist with change estimation and justification per organizational change management policies.
- Collaborate closely with engineering, procurement, and construction teams to identify cost-saving initiatives.
- Interpret financial data to highlight trends, irregularities, and savings opportunities, reporting findings with recommendations.
- Ensure accurate allocation of project costs including materials, labor, and equipment aligned with Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) principles.
- Regularly update and standardize the WBS dictionary across projects.
- Prepare detailed cost reports and presentations for stakeholders.
- Utilize cost control software tools to manage financials efficiently.
- Implement cost auditing to ensure compliance with corporate policies and regulations, resolving discrepancies.
- Incorporate AI-enabled tools to enhance effectiveness and quality in daily operations while adhering to company standards and legal requirements.
- Foster a culture of continual improvement by identifying and sharing AI-driven enhancements.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Finance, or related disciplines.
- At least 3 years of experience in cost control within semiconductor construction or capital project settings.
- Strong grasp of estimating, budgeting, and forecasting techniques.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and cost control software tools.
- Detail-oriented mindset and strong professional ethics.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to work collaboratively across diverse teams.
Preferred Skills and Experience
- Expertise in Contingency Drawdown management and Quantitative Cost Risk Analysis (QCRA).
- Familiarity with Earned Value Management (EVM) methodologies.
- Knowledge of semiconductor manufacturing processes and related equipment.
