About the Role

We are seeking a motivated individual with an enthusiasm for horticulture to join our Tomato Glasshouse team located in Tuakau. This permanent, full-time position involves working Monday to Friday from 12:00 pm to 8:30 pm, with rotating weekend duties approximately once every two to three weeks. Some flexibility for evening work may also be needed to meet operational demands, with rosters provided at least a week in advance.

Responsibilities

• Manage pest and disease control activities including preparing and applying sprays according to recipes.
• Maintain and clean all spraying equipment thoroughly.
• Monitor the health and activity of beneficial insects and bee hives.
• Keep the glasshouse clean and orderly on a daily basis.
• Conduct monthly stock takes and oversee purchasing requirements.
• Track water levels, pH, and general conditions within the glasshouse.
• Process incoming goods and maintain records of supplies.
• Operate a forklift safely and ensure correct procedures are followed by team members.
• Adhere to Health & Safety protocols to maintain a safe working environment.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in horticulture and assist the Grower Manager with everyday operations. Adaptability to varied job tasks and working hours is essential, alongside a positive, can-do attitude willing to actively contribute. Previous experience in landscaping, farm work, or horticulture roles is beneficial but not mandatory.

Skills and Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification in Horticulture preferred, or relevant experience coupled with a strong desire to learn. We are open to training individuals with passion and curiosity.
• Possession of a full driver's license (essential).
• Familiarity with Integrated Pest Management (IPM) techniques and spray application is desirable.
• Possession of a forklift license endorsed with 'F' and an OSH safety certificate is preferred.
• Competency in using computers and iPads.
• Good communication and comprehension abilities.
• Ability to comply with safety frameworks and company standards.
