Project Overview
The Expo 2030 Riyadh is a forthcoming global event promoting sustainable development, innovation, and transformative thinking under the theme "Foresight for Tomorrow." Scheduled from October 2030 to March 2031, it is expected to host over 40 million visitors. The event covers a 6 km² site with a masterplan that includes infrastructure development such as streets, parks, and utilities. Post-event, the site will evolve into a mixed-use community legacy development emphasizing sustainability standards like urban afforestation and resource-efficient energy and water use.
Job Summary
The GIS Specialist will provide essential Geographic Information System support aligned with both client and Bechtel GIS strategies. Utilizing ESRI technology, the role facilitates use-cases across multiple functions and disciplines, including BIM integration, to achieve project objectives effectively.
Key Responsibilities
- Create geospatial maps using ArcGIS Pro tailored for construction, logistics, safety, and other project stakeholders within a project management consultancy environment.
- Design and maintain spatial databases (file-based and SDE), structuring feature datasets, classes, and enforcing data quality through domains, subtypes, and coded value lists for standardized submissions.
- Collaborate across departments to analyze needs, design applications, develop data models, program applications, conduct quality control, organize user training, perform acceptance testing, and implement systems.
- Manage GIS interoperability with BIM/CAD platforms like Revit, Civil3D, and 2D CAD to maximize GIS benefits throughout project phases.
- Develop technical approaches to improve cross-functional processes by mapping workflows, defining data requirements, and executing plans.
- Configure and control the project GIS system according to project information exchange requirements.
- Support project sustainability initiatives by creating story maps and facilitating stakeholder engagement.
- Conduct supplier quality assurance to ensure supply chain GIS contributions meet established client specifications.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Geography, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Between 5 and 10 years of GIS experience, preferably with infrastructure project design management.
Required Skills and Knowledge
- Expertise in designing and implementing GIS procedures and workflows.
- Proficiency in ESRI software suite (ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Enterprise/Online) and additional tools like GlobalMapper, FME, Geographic Calculator, MicroStation, and AutoCAD.
- Experience deploying web-based GIS solutions and customizing GIS operations through scripting and programming.
- GIS system administration and user training capabilities.
- Strong understanding of BIM and GIS technology integration and related toolsets.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal), and a proactive, supportive, problem-solving attitude focused on results.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, navigate shifting priorities, and work effectively in ambiguous environments.
