Job description
Position Overview
This role involves maintaining kitchen stations, equipment, dishes, and utensils in a spotless and sanitary condition while assisting with food prep tasks. The position supports the organization's core purpose, vision, mission, and values as outlined in the company roadmap.
Key Responsibilities
- Scrape and pre-rinse food debris from soiled dishes prior to dishwasher use, making up about half of daily work.
- Wash pots, pans, and trays by hand or with machines, accounting for 15% of duties.
- Complete assigned food preparation tasks, contributing approximately 10% of responsibilities.
- Dispose of trash and garbage by taking it to designated dumpster areas, comprising about 10% of duties.
- Clean work tables, walls, refrigerators, kitchen equipment, and floors, approximately 5% of tasks.
- Sanitize garbage cans and trash bins, also around 5% of work time.
- Set up, maintain, and dismantle dishwashing machines, contributing 5% to workload.
- Transport cases weighing up to 50 pounds up to 20 times daily, ensuring safe handling.
- Organize plates, utensils, pans, and cases on various shelving heights.
- Primarily work indoors (90%) with some outdoor duties (10%) in hot and damp conditions.
- Respond swiftly to emergencies to prevent harm to self and others.
Physical Demands
- Perform tasks requiring sitting, talking, hearing, walking, and hand coordination.
- Adapt to wet floors, loud noise, and temperature extremes.
- Bend, stoop, lift, and carry dish racks up to 40 pounds regularly.
- Stand for extended periods and move between areas.
- Must have good close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
Mental and Communication Requirements
- Read and interpret documents such as contracts, instructions, and manuals.
- Write routine reports and correspondence professionally.
- Communicate effectively verbally and in writing, including speaking before groups.
- Solve practical problems with limited standardization and follow diverse instructions.
- Work well in a team, stay flexible, and adapt to fast-paced environments.
Work Environment
- Operate mostly indoors with brief outdoor activities.
- May occasionally travel by car to other worksites alone or with a colleague.
