Job description
Position Overview
The General Utility role focuses on maintaining cleanliness and orderliness in kitchen areas, equipment, plateware, and utensils. The position supports food preparation tasks and contributes to fostering a workplace culture aligned with TSFR Roadmap values, including core purpose, vision, mission, and values.
Key Responsibilities
- Scraping and pre-rinsing food residues from dirty dishes, then placing them in the dishwasher (50% of time).
- Cleaning pots, pans, and trays by hand or machine (15% of time).
- Completing all assigned food preparation tasks (10% of time).
- Removing trash and garbage to dumpster locations (10% of time).
- Cleaning work area tables, walls, refrigeration equipment, cooking equipment, and floors (5% of time).
- Sanitizing garbage cans and trash receptacles (5% of time).
- Assembling, maintaining, and breaking down the dishwasher machine (5% of time).
- Handling case transportation up to 50 pounds multiple times daily.
- Organizing plates, utensils, pans, and cases on both high and low shelving.
- Working primarily indoors (90%) with some outdoor exposure (10%).
- Operating in hot and humid environments frequently.
- Responding appropriately and swiftly in emergency situations to prevent harm.
Physical and Mental Requirements
Language Skills: Must be able to read and understand documents such as contracts, operational instructions, and manuals. Capable of writing routine reports and communicating effectively in group settings.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to solve practical problems using limited standard procedures and interpret various forms of instructions.
Physical Demands: Frequent sitting, talking, hearing, walking, handling objects with hands and fingers, and reaching. Exposure to wet floors, temperature fluctuations, and loud noise. Must regularly bend, stoop, lift dish racks weighing up to 40 pounds, stand for extended periods, and move between work areas. Visual acuity including close vision and focus adjustment is necessary.
Psychological Demands: Ability to work effectively in teams, manage fast-paced work environments, adapt to changes, and communicate clearly both verbally and in writing.
