Job description
Position Overview
The General Utility role is responsible for keeping kitchen areas, equipment, dishware, and utensils clean, sanitary, and organized. This position also supports various food preparation tasks and upholds the company's core values and culture as outlined in the TSFR Roadmap.
Key Responsibilities
- Scrape and pre-rinse food debris from dirty dishes for dishwashing (approximately 50% of time).
- Wash pots, pans, and trays by hand or using machines (around 15%).
- Carry out assigned food preparation tasks (about 10%).
- Dispose of trash and garbage by transporting it to the dumpster area (about 10%).
- Clean work tables, walls, refrigeration and cooking equipment, and floors (5%).
- Maintain and clean garbage cans and trash receptacles (5%).
- Assemble, operate, and break down dishwashing machines (5%).
- Transport cases weighing up to 50 pounds up to 20 times daily, placing items on high and low shelves.
- Perform duties primarily indoors (~90%) and occasionally outdoors (~10%).
- Work in warm, damp conditions and respond to emergencies to ensure safety.
Physical and Mental Requirements
- Effective reading and interpretation of documents including contracts and manuals; ability to write routine reports and communicate effectively with customers and staff.
- Practical problem-solving capabilities and ability to follow various instructions in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Physical abilities include sitting, talking, hearing, walking, manual dexterity, reaching; ability to bend, stoop, lift and carry dish racks up to 40 pounds regularly; stand for extended periods and move around frequently.
- Work environment includes exposure to wet floors, temperature extremes, and loud noise.
- Psychological demands require teamwork, adaptability in a fast-paced setting, flexibility, and strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Occasional travel to other field locations may be required, alone or with a co-worker.
