Job description
Position Overview
The General Utility role is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and order in kitchen areas, including equipment, plateware, and utensils. This position supports food preparation activities and aligns daily operations with the company's core purpose, vision, mission, and values.
Key Responsibilities
- Scrape and pre-rinse dirty dishes, loading them into the dishwashing machine - approximately 50% of the time.
- Hand wash or machine wash pots, pans, and trays, accounting for 15% of duties.
- Perform assigned food preparation tasks, contributing to 10% of the workload.
- Dispose of trash and garbage by transporting it to the dumpster, about 10% of the role.
- Clean tables, walls, refrigerators, cooking equipment, and floors, making up 5% of duties.
- Sanitize garbage cans and trash receptacles (5%).
- Assemble, maintain, and dismantle the dishwashing machine (5%).
- Handle transportation of cases weighing up to 50 pounds up to 20 times per day.
- Place plates, utensils, pans, and cases on shelves located at varying heights.
- Work environments predominantly indoors (90%) with some outdoor tasks (10%), often in hot and humid conditions.
- Respond promptly and effectively during emergency situations to ensure safety.
Physical and Mental Requirements
Language Skills: Ability to comprehend documents such as contracts, operation manuals, and procedural instructions; communicate clearly both verbally and in writing.
Mathematical Skills: Capable of solving practical problems and interpreting instructions provided in written, oral, or diagrammatic formats.
Physical Demands: Frequent sitting, walking, talking, hearing, and manual dexterity with hands and fingers. Exposure to wet floors, temperature fluctuations, and loud noises is common. Must lift and carry dish racks up to 40 pounds regularly, stand for prolonged periods, bend, stoop, and have close visual acuity with focus adjustment capability.
Psychological Demands: Ability to work effectively in a team under fast-paced conditions, demonstrating flexibility and strong communication skills.
Work Environment
Work primarily occurs indoors with some offsite travel by automobile to other locations as required. Accommodations for individuals with disabilities are considered to avoid undue hardship.
