About Pet Valu

Our stores actively engage in community support by partnering with local shelters, rescues, and charities for adoption events, in-store adoptions at select locations, pet food bank programs, as well as national donation and fundraising initiatives.

Role Overview

As a Store Manager, you will lead and mentor your team to provide exceptional customer service, assisting pet parents in selecting appropriate nutrition and solutions for their pets. This role offers an opportunity to work alongside passionate pet experts and provides a career path in one of the premier pet retail chains in North America.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure that all team members meet the company’s customer service standards and foster positive relationships within the local community, such as humane societies.
  • Lead recruitment, scheduling, training, task delegation, supervision, and coaching for the store team.
  • Maintain compliance with corporate protocols and operational standards across the store’s daily activities.
  • Oversee administrative duties including order placement coordination, inventory management, completion of store and safety audits, facilitation of minor store repairs, and handling corporate paperwork.
  • Drive the store team towards achieving set business objectives and performance targets.
  • Perform any additional duties as required to support store operations.

Qualifications and Skills

  • At least two years of experience in customer service and managing retail stores.
  • A genuine enthusiasm for developing knowledge and a career within the pet care industry.
  • Possess an outgoing and approachable demeanor with strong customer service capabilities.
  • Flexible availability to work weekends and evenings to comply with attendance standards.
  • Reliable transportation to commute to the store location.
  • Skill in coaching employees on sales strategies and maintaining high service quality.
  • Ability to address interpersonal conflicts within the team and escalate issues appropriately.
  • Familiarity with Point of Sale (POS) systems.
  • Physical ability to repeatedly lift items weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Previous experience in the pet care industry considered advantageous.
