Overview
Join a leading airline group providing vital support to Fuel Procurement and the IOC team by centralizing and proactively monitoring fuel needs for Qatar Airways' various aviation operations including Qatar Executive and Qatar Amiri flights. This role ensures optimal fuel utilization across flights, particularly by efficiently selecting fuel suppliers at non-contracted locations to maximize revenue for the operation. The position operates on a 12-hour shift schedule.
Key Duties
- Manage fuel requirements for Qatar Amiri, Qatar Executive, QR Cargo, and commercial flights to maintain seamless operations.
- Serve as the primary resource for monitoring fueling disruptions or incidents, supplying accurate information for investigations and management reporting.
- Compile and distribute weekly and monthly fuel operation reports to management.
- Maintain daily updates of Fuel OCC (Operations Control Center) file records.
- Accurately log flight delays related to fueling and serve as an internal advisor to fuel suppliers by closely monitoring ongoing operations and alerting suppliers of potential issues.
- Issue Requests for Quotations (RFQs) to at least three known suppliers for fuel supply at non-contracted locations and negotiate to maximize company revenue.
- Ensure prompt submission of fuel requests to suppliers and proactively follow up to confirm supplies.
- Support the Line Manager by analyzing meteorological data to identify potential savings and recommend the most efficient and cost-effective flight routes to IOC when technical stops are necessary.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the Head of Department.
Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum of a High School/Vocational Certificate or Diploma with at least 3 years of relevant experience, OR a Bachelor's Degree with a minimum of 2 years of related professional experience.
- Proven ability to establish and maintain effective internal and external working relationships.
- Prior experience or certification in airline operations or procurement is required.
- Capable of working well under pressure while maintaining excellent communication skills.
- Strong planning and organizational competencies.
- Competent in MS Office and general computer use.
- Fluent in both written and spoken English.
- Good numerical aptitude and sound decision-making skills.
- Self-motivated and confident in approach.
Preferred Attributes
- BSc degree in supply chain management, science, logistics, or business administration is advantageous.
- Formal training in aviation fuel procurement is desirable.
- Knowledge of sourcing and fuel procurement strategies and market dynamics.
- Proficiency in Arabic (written and spoken) is a plus.
- Familiarity with various aircraft types, fuel capacities, and geographic operational knowledge.
- Experience with supplier or third-party management software such as QNAFT, ATOL, BO Systems, etc.
