About Revel
Revel is transforming how critical hardware systems are managed in sectors such as aerospace, automotive, energy, and manufacturing. Our cutting-edge software platform integrates an intuitive control interface, a dedicated programming language for hardware management, and a powerful runtime environment. We enable engineers to rapidly, reliably, and safely create, test, and deploy vital systems.
Role Overview
As a Forward Deployed Engineer at Revel, you will be the primary on-site technical expert working closely with customer teams. Your responsibilities include integrating the Revel Platform with customers' hardware, coding alongside their engineers, and fostering deep technical collaborations that drive long-term success. You will develop software and systems that power critical missions in major industries and deliver valuable field insights that influence our product roadmap.
This role demands high technical expertise, ownership, and integration of software engineering with business strategy; it is not a support position.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop robust production-grade software and customized dashboards with customer engineering teams.
- Manage the comprehensive deployment of Revel solutions at client sites, connecting various hardware elements including test stands, sensors, and actuators.
- Establish and nurture strong technical relationships with clients, gaining in-depth understanding of their hardware and product objectives and expanding the engagement.
- Provide product feedback based on field experience to the Head of Product.
- Collaborate with internal development teams to incorporate improvements inspired by customer interactions.
- Commit to 30–50% travel primarily within California and occasionally broader domestic and international locations.
Candidate Profile
- Possess 2 to 4 years of engineering experience post-college; a degree in Computer Science or related field is preferred.
- Proficient in C, C++, or Python; familiarity with Rust is highly advantageous.
- Strong grasp of system design emphasizing interaction between software, firmware, and hardware.
- Comfortable working in hardware-driven environments and able to communicate effectively with hardware engineers.
- Excellent communication skills and proven ability to build trust with technical teams and stakeholders.
- Skilled at diagnosing complex technical issues swiftly and confidently in unpredictable real-world scenarios.
- Prepared to travel frequently and engage hands-on with innovative hardware teams.
- Must meet ITAR requirements: be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee, to comply with U.S. export regulations.
Additional Qualifications (Preferred)
- Experience with data acquisition systems, programmable logic controllers, control systems and related software suites such as National Instruments, TwinCAT, or CodeSys.
- Background in embedded systems, robotics, aerospace, automotive, or similar hardware fields.
- Previous experience in forward deployed, field engineering, or applications engineering roles.
- Start-up experience and a passion for sectors including aerospace, advanced manufacturing, or robotics.
Why Choose Revel?
- Engage with impactful hardware projects supporting aerospace, advanced manufacturing, and essential infrastructure.
- Directly influence product development based on your field contributions.
- Competitive remuneration with significant equity opportunities and rapid career advancement.
- Work within a small, driven team where your efforts are highly visible and valued.
Compliance Note
Applicants must satisfy International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), requiring citizenship or lawful permanent residency status, a refugee or asylee designation, or eligibility to procure Department of State authorization.
