Role overview

This engineer will build the technology underpinning the platform, helping the product surpass classroom learning effectiveness. The role's core mission is to multiply the pedagogical impact—creating scalable systems that faithfully deliver expert teaching to millions of students worldwide. In addition, the engineer will create tools that significantly enhance internal team capabilities, automating work where feasible, redesigning processes rather than just optimizing them, and managing a large fleet of autonomous agents with continuous evaluation to ensure quality.

Key responsibilities

• Develop student-facing features aligned with strategic goals ensuring measurable improvement in learning outcomes compared to control groups.
• Collaborate with subject matter experts to translate pedagogical methods into scalable technical solutions, optimizing cost and effectiveness.
• Work closely with various internal teams to understand real workflows and build capabilities that fundamentally change team outputs.
• Design and implement process automation that eliminates unnecessary manual work while validating true efficiency gains without loss of quality.
• Maintain and continuously evaluate a large set of agents to ensure their reliability, enable rapid adoption of improved models, and minimize operational costs.

Experience and skills required

• Proven experience in designing and building complex systems based on real-world problems, including end-to-end architecture, stakeholder communication, and robust debugging.
• Strong judgment on where to apply large language models versus traditional code in system components.
• Ability to create clear, simple prompts and maintain fluency with evolving AI model landscapes including capabilities, costs, and appropriate applications.
• Habit of rigorous evaluation of systems to detect regressions or quality drops post-change.
• Skilled in decomposing large systems into independently testable modules.
• Expertise in eliciting true user needs from internal stakeholders and mapping actual workflows before redesigning processes.
• Competency in process flowcharting and visualizing task flows as they happen in practice.
