Financial Director

Position Overview

Our client, an Irish FMCG company serving customers worldwide, seeks a Finance Director to lead their finance team. This leadership role is vital for maintaining financial compliance, operational finance activities, and fulfilling statutory duties for the organization’s worldwide subsidiaries. The Finance Director serves as the essential bridge connecting group finance leadership with local statutory operations.

Primary Duties

• Guide and nurture the Financial Controller responsible for accurate, timely, and scalable month-end closings in all legal entities.
• Supervise accurate bookkeeping and records management across 26 subsidiaries.
• Guarantee thorough reconciliation of principal balance sheet accounts and prompt reporting to group consolidation.
• Maintain compliance with all local statutory financial reporting, tax filings including Corporation Tax (CIT), Value Added Tax (VAT), Withholding Tax (WHT), and relevant regulations.
• Oversee the preparation of local statutory accounts compliant with local GAAP and ensure harmonization with IFRS where applicable.
• Manage relationships with external advisors handling statutory audits, tax submissions, and country-specific compliance matters.
• Lead and develop the operational finance team responsible for Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Payroll, and Revenue Assurance functions.
• Implement and continuously improve financial control policies, standard operating procedures, and related documentation.
• Standardize and document financial operations and local reporting protocols across jurisdictions.
• Identify opportunities to automate and enhance systems, including ERP and NetSuite workflow improvements.

Qualifications and Experience

• Qualified accountant credential such as ACA, ACCA, or CIMA with over 8 years of post-qualification experience in a global finance environment.
• Strong expertise in financial operations, various local GAAPs, IFRS standards, and compliance frameworks spanning multiple countries.
• Proven leadership experience managing teams including financial controllers, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and third-party providers.
• Track record of scaling operational finance procedures and enhancing month-end close efficiency.
• Experienced in administration of global subsidiaries, statutory reporting, and tax compliance.
