Overview

The Legal Entity Control (LEC) team is charged with ensuring the accuracy, completeness, and governance of financial statements and records for legal entities. Operating as an independent control function, the focus is primarily on overseeing month-end and quarter-end close processes to guarantee that the Income Statement and Balance Sheet are finalized correctly with robust controls and supporting evidence.

This position is part of the EMEA Merchant Services Finance team, providing support to the EMEA Merchant Services CFO in fulfilling regulatory obligations. Merchant Services represents the payment processing and acquiring sector within Global Payments. The role involves daily accountability for financial reporting and governance for two Dublin-based legal entities amid an evolving regulatory and business landscape.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take full ownership of month-end close activities ensuring timely and comprehensive closure of Income Statement and Balance Sheet supported by appropriate documentation and controls.
  • Collaborate with Product Control to perform monthly reconciliations of significant P&L lines and maintain continuous supporting evidence for the legal entity's P&L and Balance Sheet.
  • Contribute to the preparation of precise and timely statutory financial statements.
  • Manage interactions with external auditors during interim and year-end audits, provide necessary audit evidence swiftly, and address follow-up inquiries promptly.
  • Prepare quarterly and annual regulatory filings to the Central Bank of Ireland (CBI) payment institution returns under Legal Entity Controller supervision.
  • Develop monthly financial reports for senior management and board presentations.
  • Ensure internal controls are properly designed and functioning; support internal audit activities and prepare for audit readiness.
  • Oversee expense reporting and collaborate with stakeholders to improve cost transparency and identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Coordinate with tax partners to guarantee accurate and punctual tax reporting and payments to authorities.
  • Assist in budgeting and forecasting by working closely with business managers to reflect revenues and costs accurately.
  • Support capital adequacy planning, wind-down strategy development, and going concern assessments.
  • Engage with Finance & Business Management teams including Business Management, Financial Control, Product Control, and regional partners to uphold a rigorous control environment and foster business growth.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Demonstrated experience in financial control, legal entity control, product control, or similar finance/control roles within a regulated financial services setting.
  • In-depth knowledge of close processes, balance sheet substantiation, and control framework implementation.
  • Proven capability to support audit processes by delivering clear and timely audit evidence.
  • Strong attention to detail with ability to produce accurate and timely reporting under pressure, coupled with a strong sense of ownership.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement skills, capable of effective communication with senior leadership and cross-functional teams.

Preferred Experience

  • Prior involvement with Central Bank of Ireland reporting or Payment Institution regulatory submissions.
  • Experience in preparing statutory accounts and managing multi-entity governance oversight.
  • Working knowledge of payments, acquiring, Merchant Services, or transaction banking sectors.
