Finance Analyst

About the Role

An exciting opportunity awaits an ambitious Finance Analyst to join a thriving food manufacturing company located in Hastings, Hawke's Bay. This position offers comprehensive exposure to financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, GST compliance, and transactional finance tasks, providing an ideal environment for professional growth. Collaborating closely with the Accountant, you will gain valuable, practical experience across various finance operations while helping to ensure accurate and timely financial information delivery.

Key Responsibilities

• Preparing and presenting financial reports
• Supporting monthly management accounts by performing variance analysis and producing commentary
• Contributing to budgeting and forecasting efforts
• Enhancing and maintaining reporting templates and schedules
• Assisting with GST preparation and fulfilling tax compliance obligations
• Providing operational support for accounts payable and accounts receivable processes
• Handling supplier invoice processing, payment runs, and customer receipt recording
• Managing debtor accounts and responding to supplier inquiries
• Supporting month-end close activities and reconciliation procedures

Candidate Profile

• Degree or tertiary certification in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or related disciplines
• Between 1 and 3 years of experience in accounting or finance support roles
• Knowledge of GST and foundational tax compliance requirements
• Experience working within Accounts Payable and/or Accounts Receivable
• Understanding of accounting principles and preparing financial reports
• Attention to detail combined with strong organizational capabilities
• Proactive mindset and eagerness to learn
• Ability to work effectively within a collaborative, hands-on team environment
• Proficiency in Excel
• Familiarity with ERP or accounting software systems
• Experience with MYOB ExoNet considered a plus
• Exposure to Power BI or comparable reporting platforms advantageous
