Overview

Auckland University of Technology (AUT), a dynamic and progressive institution in New Zealand, seeks a dedicated Communications Coordinator to enhance engagement within its Faculty of Health and Environmental Sciences. This full-time position is located at AUT's North Campus in Auckland. The faculty unites experts across various health and environmental disciplines, focusing on applied learning and impactful research within a diverse and inclusive university culture that values Māori and Pacific contributions.

Role Summary

This role calls for a proactive and collaborative communications professional who will work closely with faculty staff and central teams to deliver effective communication strategies that align with AUT's standards and strategic goals. Key responsibilities include developing content for newsletters, websites, social media, managing communications calendars, supporting and promoting events, and enhancing Māori visibility in line with Te Aronui framework.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Create, edit, and publish communications content across multiple platforms including newsletters, websites, intranet, emails, and social media channels.
  • Coordinate and manage faculty-wide communications and leadership updates ensuring alignment with organisational messaging.
  • Oversee faculty communication calendars to maintain organized and timely dissemination of messages.
  • Assist with event planning and implementation, promoting activities and managing post-event communication.
  • Handle faculty social media presence, promoting research achievements, successes, and stories.
  • Foster collaborative relationships within the faculty and with AUT’s Brand, Marketing, and Communications departments.

Candidate Profile

  • Qualification: Tertiary degree in communications, public relations, journalism or a related discipline.
  • Experience: Minimum two years in communications, corporate communications, public relations, or internal communication roles.
  • Proven skills in content creation for websites, intranets, and social media platforms.
  • Excellent writing, editing, proofreading, and storytelling capabilities.
  • Capacity to develop and execute communication plans and support event organization.
  • Familiarity with content management systems and digital communication tools.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines with great attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, and cultural awareness consistent with AUT’s values and Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles.

Additional Information

  • Employment type: Full-time, 37.5 hours per week.
  • Work location: Onsite at Auckland University of Technology North Campus.
  • Salary range: NZD 76,000 to 102,000 per annum, depending on qualifications and experience.
