Job Overview

The Facilities Cleanroom Technician plays a crucial role by managing and maintaining cleanroom environments to ensure safety, stability, and reliability in production processes. This role involves daily operations, ongoing monitoring, and assisting in repairs and preventive maintenance of cleanroom facilities, working closely with the Facilities Cleanroom Engineer to support continuous improvement efforts.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct regular monitoring of vital cleanroom environmental parameters including temperature, humidity, electrostatic discharge (ESD), air flow, differential pressure, and cleanliness classifications.
• Maintain thorough and up-to-date records, logs, checklists, and reports pertaining to cleanroom and facility system operations.
• Promptly identify and report any irregularities or deviations from specified standards to supervisors or engineers.
• Operate and assist in the upkeep of HVAC systems, fan filter units (FFUs), ionizers, ESD control apparatus, indoor air quality systems, building structural components such as doors, windows, and flooring, as well as lighting fixtures.
• Execute scheduled preventive maintenance tasks including inspections and cleaning as per documented procedures.
• Support troubleshooting activities dealing with system malfunctions, perform basic repairs and replace parts as necessary.
• Respond promptly to production line and facility alarms or issues encountered within the cleanroom.
• Assist in containment protocols during facility or environmental incidents under engineering supervision.
• Provide detailed observations and data to support root cause evaluations and corrective action planning.
• Strictly follow maintenance procedures, safety standards, and organizational policies during work execution.
• Accurately complete all assigned work orders, job reports, and related documentation in a timely fashion.
• Help maintain and update maintenance records, equipment histories, and control inventories for spare parts.
• Manage spare parts and consumables stock including receiving, labeling, storage, and distribution; communicate stock status for timely replenishment.
• Oversee and coordinate activities of external contractors performing maintenance, repair, or projects within cleanroom and facility zones, ensuring adherence to safety regulations, cleanroom protocols, and work permits.
• Collaborate with engineers on improvement projects involving system upgrades, layout modifications, or shutdown tasks.
• Maintain cleanliness and orderly conditions in cleanroom support and facility areas.
• Promote and comply with safety policies, risk controls, and personal protective equipment usage.
• Engage actively in safety inspections, 5S organizational practices, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications and Experience

• Possession of NITEC, Higher NITEC, Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, Building Services, or related technical field, or an equivalent certification.
• Experience in facility management, building services, or cleanroom operations within manufacturing is beneficial.
• Fundamental knowledge of HVAC systems, air distribution, and cleanroom operational principles is desirable.
• Capability to read and understand technical drawings, equipment manuals, and standard operating procedures.
• Hands-on familiarity with equipment maintenance, servicing, and troubleshooting techniques.
• Strong accountability, with meticulous attention to procedures and detail.
• Positive attitude towards problem-solving and eagerness to learn from experienced technicians and engineers.
• Availability to respond to emergency calls as required.
• Good communication and team collaboration skills to coordinate effectively with engineers, production teams, and contractors.
• A proactive approach and a focus on safety in a dynamic manufacturing and cleanroom setting.
