Job description
Role Overview
We are seeking an Estimator with a collaborative approach and strong prioritization abilities to play a vital role in preparing project cost estimates. This involves analyzing specifications and contract plans to determine cost-effective quantities and construction methods that align with project pursuit, timeline, and budget objectives. Key Responsibilities
- Analyze proposal specifications, drawings, and attend pre-bid meetings to define scope of work and content requirements for estimates.
- Incorporate historical data from purchase orders, subcontracts, productivity reports into unit cost and labor hour calculations.
- Offer technical insights regarding project and contract risks to the lead estimator who finalizes bid price approval.
- Prepare detailed discipline-specific estimates by performing thorough quantity takeoffs from engineering drawings and calculating material needs.
- Track client addenda and inform the estimating team of changes during the estimating process.
- Support design review alternatives and suggest optimal solutions based on cost efficiency, engineering integrity, and material availability.
- Collaborate with estimating colleagues to organize and deliver project handoff meetings between pursuit and project management teams.
- Investigate and recommend potential vendors and subcontractors for assigned work scopes to meet pursuit and budget goals.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related discipline is required.
- Minimum of one year experience preferred in the construction field, focusing on estimating or cost control.
- Basic proficiency with HCSS Heavy Bid estimating software.
- Developing skills in technical writing.

The annual salary range for this position is from USD 75,000 to USD 105,000.
