Our client is a reputable custom homebuilder located in the Hills District, Sydney, known for specializing in high-end residential construction and renovations. Due to growth in workload, they seek to strengthen their Estimating team by hiring an experienced Estimator. The company's reputation in the industry is strong and well-established.

Position Overview

This role involves hands-on estimating tasks tailored to someone with solid experience in residential construction estimation. Responsibilities span pricing projects from architectural and construction drawings, performing detailed quantity take-offs, acquiring subcontractor quotations, and ensuring estimates are both accurate and commercially viable. The estimator will gain exposure to both pre-construction/sales and production estimating phases, making experience in these areas advantageous.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare precise estimates and tenders derived from architectural and construction plans.
• Conduct detailed quantity take-offs and pricing assessments.
• Source and evaluate subcontractor and supplier pricing data.
• Review documents including plans and specifications to ascertain scope and cost obligations.
• Account for labor, materials, trades, and construction expenses.
• Spot discrepancies, omissions, and potential cost risks within project documentation.
• Update estimates reflecting design modifications or revised documents.
• Support the management of variations and cost changes throughout the project lifecycle.
• Collaborate closely with internal design, construction, and project teams.
• Ensure that final estimates are rigorously checked to accurately align with project demands.

Candidate Requirements

• Prior experience in residential construction estimating.
• Proficiency with estimating software such as Databuild, Cubit, or comparable tools.
• Experience in estimating costs for custom homes, renovations, extensions, or similar residential projects.
• Comprehensive knowledge of residential construction practices and associated costs.
• Strong capability in performing take-offs, calculating quantities, and assessing subcontractor pricing.
• High degree of accuracy and attention to detail in estimates.
• Ability to read and interpret architectural and construction documents effectively.
• Excellent communication skills to engage with internal teams and external stakeholders.
