About the Role
We are seeking a seasoned Estimator to join our expanding pre-construction team based in Chorley. This role supports significant infrastructure projects within the region, with a focus on sectors such as Rail, Highways, Water, and Energy. The ideal candidate thrives on preparing competitive tenders, solving complex challenges, and plays an integral part in securing new contracts.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop precise project cost and resource estimations.
- Create competitive and financially sound tender proposals.
- Identify potential project risks, opportunities, and suggest value engineering options.
- Establish and maintain strong partnerships with clients, contractors, suppliers, and the wider supply chain.
- Collaborate with engineering, planning, and commercial departments.
- Facilitate effective handovers from pre-construction to project execution after tenders are successful.
- Participate in ongoing enhancement of estimating methodologies.
- Mentor and support junior estimating staff members.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Previous experience in estimating within civil engineering or construction.
- Expertise working on Rail, Highways, Water, or Energy sector projects.
- Strong commercial mindset with a keen attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Office suite.
- Systematic and analytical approach to cost estimation.
- Capability to handle multiple tender submissions and competing priorities.
- Excellent communication and relationship management abilities.
