About the Role

Key Talent Solutions is seeking a knowledgeable Estimator to join a reputable UK infrastructure contractor expanding its tendering capabilities in London. This permanent, full-time opportunity will suit an individual with a strong civil engineering or infrastructure background, capable of producing precise and commercially strong tenders specifically in sectors such as Rail, Highways, Water, or Energy.

Responsibilities

• Developing comprehensive estimates for civil engineering and infrastructure tenders.
• Analyzing drawings, specifications, scopes, and tender documents thoroughly.
• Preparing first-principles cost assessments covering labor, plant, materials, subcontracting, and preliminaries.
• Gathering, evaluating, and comparing quotations from suppliers and subcontractors.
• Recognizing tender risks, prospects, assumptions, and exclusions.
• Collaborating effectively with commercial, engineering, planning, and operational departments.
• Assisting with tender reviews, client inquiries, presentations, and project transitions.
• Managing multiple tender submissions concurrently while ensuring precision and commercial rigor.

Requirements

• Prior experience in estimating within civil engineering or infrastructure projects.
• Knowledge across sectors such as Rail, Highways, Water, or Energy.
• Excellent skills in first-principles estimating and taking ownership of tenders.
• Understanding of supply chain dynamics and subcontractor pricing structures.
• Proficiency in Excel and the Microsoft Office suite.
• Strong attention to detail with a logical and methodical work approach.
• Confidence in client interactions and tender review processes.
• Willingness to work onsite in London during the probation period.
• Experience with NEC contracts, framework environments, or using estimating software such as Causeway, Candy, ConQuest, CATO, or CostX is highly desirable.
