Job description
Role Overview
We are looking for a skilled Estimation Engineer specialized in Hardscape to assist with tender preparation and cost evaluations for both landscape and construction initiatives. The position entails delivering precise cost projections, scrutinizing tender documents, recognizing potential project risks, and aiding strategic commercial and technical decisions throughout the bidding phase.
Key Responsibilities
- Evaluate tender documentation including drawings, specifications, and Bills of Quantities (BOQs).
- Craft detailed cost estimates for hardscape and landscape projects.
- Assess project scope, technical demands, and commercial risks thoroughly.
- Liaise with clients, consultants, and internal teams to resolve technical inquiries.
- Perform analysis of costs related to materials, equipment, manpower, and subcontractors.
- Collaborate with procurement, supply chain departments, and authorized vendors.
- Participate in pre-tender meetings, technical discussions, and on-site assessments.
- Examine project modifications, contract alterations, and update costs accordingly.
- Compile tender submissions along with appropriate commercial paperwork.
- Facilitate technical handover and financial clarifications to project groups post-award.
- Provide design teams with technical expertise, layouts, and specification details.
- Track estimation precision and maintain comprehensive cost databases.
- Guide and mentor junior estimation engineers to foster team growth.
Candidate Requirements
- A Bachelor’s degree in Architectural Engineering or an allied discipline is essential.
- Possess between 5 to 8 years of relevant experience in estimation or tendering roles.
- Proven background in hardscape, landscape, or general construction projects.
- In-depth knowledge of BOQ creation, cost estimation methods, and tender assessment techniques.
- Expertise in collaborating with vendors, subcontractors, and understanding material pricing.
- Strong analytical abilities coupled with commercial insight and effective problem-solving skills.
- Capable of managing multiple tenders and performing well under tight deadlines.
Technical Competencies
- Proficiency in AutoCAD.
- Experience using CCS Candy software.
- Competent with Microsoft Office applications.
- Familiarity with construction contracts, industry standards, and tendering protocols.
