Company Overview
Based in Consett, County Durham, the company focuses on the reverse engineering and servicing of large industrial rotating equipment, particularly pumps. They manufacture spare parts in their own machine shop using reverse engineering techniques.
Job Summary
This role has opened in the estimating department following an internal promotion. The selected candidate will report directly to the Sales Director and support a busy production team, ideally with prior machining experience and skills in assessing time requirements for machine shop operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Calculate job costs using the company's ERP system, EFACS.
- Use sketches and drawings to estimate task durations in a conventional machine shop setting.
- Source material costs and prices from subcontractors.
- Interpret detailed repair plans to evaluate service and repair job costs.
- Compile complete repair quotes and draft proposals for customers.
- Maintain detailed records of all calculations in a database.
- Leverage the database to identify opportunities for improving estimating efficiency.
Candidate Profile
- Strong commitment to quality, cost control, and timely delivery.
- Precise and adaptable approach to tasks and problem-solving.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word with solid experience using ERP systems.
- Ability to work effectively within a small, multidisciplinary team.
- Background in mechanical engineering is required.
