Unix and SQL Support Engineer

Role Overview

This position requires expertise in Unix/Linux system administration and SQL-based database support to ensure robust production application operations.

Technical Environment

• Operating Systems: Unix, Linux distributions including RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu
• Databases: Oracle PL/SQL, PostgreSQL, Microsoft SQL Server
• Scripting: Shell Scripting (Bash, Korn Shell); Python skills are advantageous
• Monitoring and Ticketing Tools: Splunk, Dynatrace, AppDynamics, ServiceNow
• Supporting Tools: WinSCP, Putty, Git

Primary Duties

• Oversee and support applications deployed on Unix/Linux servers within production.
• Diagnose and resolve issues related to applications, servers, and databases promptly.
• Develop and refine SQL queries aimed at data verification and analytical purposes.
• Conduct log analysis to determine root causes and implement solutions for incident resolution.
• Perform deployments and carry out routine maintenance tasks in live environments.
• Collaborate effectively with development, infrastructure, and database teams to ensure operational stability.
• Engage in incident management processes including on-call support responsibilities.

Mandatory Skills and Expertise

• Strong command in Unix/Linux system administration
• Proficiency in SQL across Oracle, SQL Server, and PostgreSQL platforms
• Experience with shell scripting specifically Bash and Korn Shell
• Background in application and production support roles
• Competence in incident and problem management methodologies
• Capability in log inspection and troubleshooting complex issues

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants should hold degrees such as Any Graduate, B.Tech/B.E. in any specialization, B.C.A. in any specialization, or B.Sc. in any specialization.
