Role Overview

The Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) Advisor will deliver expert guidance and support on EHS matters to project management teams and other relevant stakeholders, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations. This role supports the application of the company's EHS management system and promotes best practices across ongoing and upcoming projects within the designated regional area. Reporting directly to the UK&I EHS Manager, this position is based in the Republic of Ireland.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the expert resource for project management teams, establishing formal project plans aimed at continuous EHS improvements throughout projects.
  • Regularly present EHS performance data to clients, project leaders, and management groups.
  • Assist with the evaluation and mitigation of project risks, identifying non-compliance and proposing corrective actions.
  • Build and sustain productive relationships with clients, project managers, supervisors, employees, contractors, and other stakeholders.
  • Encourage and foster a positive safety culture within project environments.
  • Track compliance with legal requirements and implement corrective follow-ups to promptly address shortcomings.
  • Contribute to drafting and communicating EHS project plans effectively.
  • Support and promote the development and maintenance of comprehensive EHS management and safety systems.
  • Identify training needs related to EHS for employees and facilitate appropriate development initiatives.
  • Assist in resolving audit findings from internal, external, and self-audits to ensure corrective measures are implemented.
  • Manage the internal audit program for project sites, execute audits on schedule, report weekly on findings and actions to clients and supervisors, and ensure issues are closed.
  • Analyze EHS data trends, deliver reports, and drive EHS initiatives with project management.
  • Conduct frequent site walkthroughs in collaboration with project teams for support and issue resolution.
  • Support the review and formulation of project-specific Method Statements and Risk Assessments, ensuring compliance during execution.
  • Participate in project meetings to address key EHS topics and ensure required actions are taken.
  • Investigate serious project incidents, prepare detailed reports including root cause analysis, and implement preventive actions.
  • Coordinate with regulatory authorities during inspections, investigations, or enforcement actions to minimize risks to the company.
  • Engage in compliance forums to stay updated on best practices and EHS innovations for ongoing improvements.
  • Oversee all environmental aspects and impacts via compliance calendars and effective project management systems.
  • Evaluate contractors' EHS processes and performance to ensure they meet company standards and agreed targets.

Candidate Profile

  • Exceptional communication skills, able to influence at all organizational levels both orally and in writing.
  • Strong presentation capabilities for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Collaborative team player with the ability to work independently when required.
  • Membership of IOSH at Certified level minimum; Chartered status (CMIOSH) preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Environmental, Health and Safety.
  • A minimum of 3 to 5 years’ experience handling EHS responsibilities on extensive and complex construction projects.
  • Thorough knowledge of Irish EHS legislation, particularly the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work (Construction) Regulations 2013.
  • Experience preferred in Pharmaceutical, Biopharma or Biotech sectors.
  • Proven track record implementing EHS Management Systems and supporting policies.
  • Self-motivated with a proactive approach, capable of managing priorities and adapting swiftly.
  • Possession of a full driving license is mandatory.
  • Current Safe Pass Card required.
