Role Overview

The Treasury team at Reap constructs and manages the essential infrastructure powering all Reap products—handling money movement including inbound and outbound flows, fiat and stablecoins, wallets, custody, internal transfers, withdrawals, and payouts. These systems demand full reliability, visibility, and audit readiness as they support every other function within the company.

As Engineering Manager for Treasury, you will lead the development of global, asset-agnostic money movement platforms spanning multiple regions, currencies, and financial collaborators. The role focuses heavily on wallet infrastructure, involving custody and wallet provider integration, key management design, signing workflows, and reconciliation processes. You will be actively involved in both the architectural design and operational aspects while mentoring engineering talent. Collaboration with the Head of Treasury and product teams is central to translating treasury strategy into robust production systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead engineering efforts for the Treasury domain including assets, currencies, rail networks, FX, wallet and account infrastructure, and the global ledger to enable new market launches.
• Oversee design, building, and maintenance of core treasury systems with hands-on architectural involvement and sound technical decision-making.
• Manage end-to-end wallet and custody integrations: evaluating providers, crafting key management strategies, operating production systems, and overseeing reconciliation activities.
• Acquire in-depth knowledge of clients, products, and hubs to inform technically sound and reasoned decisions.
• Play a leadership role within engineering management by shaping foundational systems underpinning company growth.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with product, engineering, design, finance, customer success, and business operations to meet objectives across global hubs.
• Clearly articulate technical choices, rationale, and tradeoffs to senior leadership and stakeholders.
• Grow the Treasury engineering team through hiring, defining operating models, and planning long-term roadmaps.
• Steer technical decisions while fostering team development and performance.
• Build scalable, composable systems operable across all global hubs.
• Embed observability through all layers; lead incident responses and promote continuous reliability enhancements.
• Establish success metrics for ongoing improvement leveraging data-driven approaches.
• Maintain stringent quality standards focusing on functionality and scalability beyond initial release.

Required Qualifications and Attributes

• At least 8 years of software engineering experience related to treasury, ledgers, or foreign exchange, with 1-2 years in leadership or management.
• Demonstrated ownership and operational experience with mission-critical business systems.
• Strong knowledge of crypto wallet architectures including custodial and non-custodial models, key management, address lifecycle, and signing processes; experienced in integrating wallet or custody providers into live production environments.
• Comprehensive understanding of financial domains: virtual assets, fiat currencies, blockchains, payment networks, ledgers, and partners/counterparties.
• Experience developing API-driven global financial systems with capability to interpret specs, evaluate integrations, and author detailed API requirements.
• Meticulous problem solver attentive to correctness, edge cases, and failure modes; systematic debugger prioritizing robust, clear solutions over quick fixes.
• Strong backend engineering expertise complemented by a broad interest in financial infrastructure transcending technology stacks.
• Sound technical judgment balancing depth with product insight to make pragmatic, adaptable design decisions.
• Exceptional written communication skills with clear, self-sufficient design documents and specifications.
• Collaborative team player who demands high-quality code, reliability, and rigorous peer reviews; communicates effectively and respectfully.
• Thrives in fast-paced and ambiguous environments with a proactive, hands-on approach managing multiple competing priorities.
• Proficient with technologies including TypeScript, Node.js, NestJS, and AWS, though foundational engineering skill is emphasized over tool-specific knowledge.

Preferred Additional Skills

• Expertise designing stateless, scalable, resilient systems leveraging asynchronous workflows, distributed services, and cloud infrastructure.
• Advanced wallet and custody experience including MPC or HSM-backed signing, multi-chain address management, or managing self-custody at scale.
• Background in embedded finance supporting both B2B and B2C financial infrastructure solutions.
• Full-stack development exposure spanning backend, frontend, infrastructure, and data.
• Hands-on experience developing or prototyping AI-assisted internal tooling.
• Comfort working within high-growth, rapidly evolving teams.
