About the Team

The Reap Direct team develops and maintains user-facing web and mobile platforms, including flagship products like Reap Card, Reap Pay, and tools for managing expenses. The team is responsible for the complete technology stack, building reliable and user-focused solutions from the customer interfaces to the backend services and APIs that support them.

Role Overview

As a Senior Software Engineer with Reap Direct, you will be accountable for the entire feature development lifecycle—from initial idea through implementation and deployment to ongoing maintenance. You will develop scalable, maintainable full-stack solutions spanning both front-end interfaces and back-end APIs. Working collaboratively within cross-functional teams, you will design solutions that effectively meet customer needs.

This position targets senior-level professionals but also welcomes capable mid-level engineers aiming for broader ownership.

Responsibilities

• Work collaboratively with product managers, designers, and engineers to move projects from concept to release.
• Create full-stack applications that adhere to high fintech industry standards for quality and performance.
• Set example by promoting excellent engineering practices and maintaining strong code quality.
• Stay abreast of the latest technologies and trends to keep the tech stack innovative and competitive.
• Enhance the production system's reliability and stability to ensure continuous service availability to a large user base.
• Contribute to team growth by participating in recruitment activities including resume evaluation and conducting interviews.

Candidate Profile

• A minimum of 6 years of experience in software development for senior candidates; strong mid-level candidates with at least 3 years are also considered.
• Proficient full-stack engineer with expertise in the React ecosystem (including state management and component libraries) and backend services built with TypeScript and NestJS, deployed on cloud environments.
• Consistently produces maintainable, well-tested, and deployment-ready code and architecture.
• Demonstrates strong problem-solving skills, emphasizing correctness, edge cases, and robust debugging rather than quick fixes.
• Skilled in database schema design, query optimization, migration management, and performance tuning using ORMs such as Prisma with PostgreSQL or Aurora.
• Exhibits sound technical judgment balancing product needs with engineering depth and adaptability.
• Committed to continuous learning, open to feedback, and proactive in enhancing team engineering standards.
• Enjoys collaborative team environments, excels in clear communication, peer reviews, and respectful challenge of ideas to improve overall quality.

Preferred Skills

• Experience or interest in fintech topics such as payments, card issuance, or cryptocurrency exchanges.
• Familiarity with mobile app development using React Native and processes related to app store deployment.
• Proficient in leveraging AI tools to accelerate development and enrich knowledge, critically assessing and improving AI outputs.
• Experience working in fast-paced startup or high-growth settings.

Technical Stack

• All development performed in TypeScript.
• Frontend technologies include React 19, Vite, and TanStack.
• Backend built with NestJS version 11.
• Data layer uses Prisma ORM with PostgreSQL/Aurora and Redis.
• Infrastructure hosted on AWS using ECS Fargate, Lambda, SQS, S3, and CloudFront, with containerization via Docker.
• CI/CD pipelines and testing frameworks involve GitHub Actions, Vitest, and Jest.
