Role Overview
The Engineering Manager will lead a high-performing engineering team within Stripe Billing. This leader will collaborate closely with product management and cross-functional partners to define team strategy and deliver outcomes. The ideal candidate excels in product-focused management, fostering teamwork, mentoring engineers, and driving product development aligned with user needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with engineering leaders, product managers, and designers to develop strategy and product roadmaps
- Apply principled thinking to design and solve intricate technical challenges
- Cultivate a team culture grounded in trust and psychological safety
- Implement processes that empower efficient work in a rapidly evolving environment
- Coach engineers to support career advancement and skill growth
- Participate in engineering management initiatives across Stripe

Minimum Qualifications
- Over 5 years of experience in engineering management
- More than 8 years of full-time software development experience
- Proven success in hiring and leading effective engineering teams
- Track record of fostering inclusive, challenging, and diverse work environments
- Ability to navigate cross-functional roles and influence product results
- Strong technical expertise addressing large-scale complex problems
- Experience developing scalable and adaptable software solutions
- Capability to work autonomously with high responsibility
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong product sensibility and design intuition for elegant problem solving
- Demonstrated success building relationships across organizational boundaries
- Experience managing distributed teams across various locations and time zones
Onsite Work Expectations
Employees are generally expected to spend at least 50% of their time onsite monthly depending on team and location requirements, with some roles requiring full-time office presence. This hybrid model supports collaboration while offering flexibility.
Compensation and Benefits
The salary for this Toronto-based position ranges from CA$213,600 to CA$320,400 annually, adjusted by location and experience level. Additional benefits can include equity, bonuses, retirement plans, healthcare, and wellness stipends, detailed during the hiring process.
