Role Overview
We are seeking a skilled Engineering Hydrologist / Water Engineer to join our expanding Water team. This role is ideal for candidates with a solid background in hydrology who are motivated to apply their expertise across varied water engineering projects. Suitable for intermediate to senior-level professionals, this position focuses on applying hydrological science and engineering principles to infrastructure planning, flood risk, and climate resilience challenges.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct hydrological studies including rainfall-runoff modelling, flood estimation, and catchment analysis.
- Support flood risk management and climate resilience initiatives, including flood and hydraulic modelling.
- Assist in the design and evaluation of hydraulic structures, stormwater systems, and water infrastructure projects.
- Produce detailed technical documents such as reports, specifications, and design assessments.
- Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams comprising engineers, scientists, and planners.
- Engage with clients, councils, and infrastructure stakeholders to facilitate successful project outcomes.
- Contribute to business development efforts and client relationship management appropriate to experience.
- Mentor junior staff and support initiatives promoting technical excellence within the company.
Candidate Profile
- Possess a degree in Civil, Environmental, or Water Resources Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience in hydrology, flood estimation, catchment modelling, or water resource evaluations is essential.
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving capabilities.
- Familiarity with hydrological analysis and modelling software tools; proficiency with specific platforms is advantageous.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with clients and multidisciplinary teams.
- A practical and inquisitive approach, with the capacity to convey technical findings clearly to clients and communities.
- A dedication to maintaining high standards of technical quality and ongoing professional development.
- Chartered status or progress towards it is desirable but not mandatory.
