Job description
Position Overview
The Engineering Assistant at Vertiv plays a critical role in supporting the design of custom busbar assemblies, which are primarily Engineered-to-Order (ETO) products requiring tailored engineering for each customer order. This position entails managing design documentation and providing engineering assistance connected to ERP activities as well as maintaining accurate Bills of Materials (BOM) using Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) and manufacturing systems. The role involves close collaboration with cross-functional teams, including Project Managers and factory personnel, throughout the design and release phases, ensuring seamless production support and quality improvements.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as an intermediary between Engineering and Planning teams to ensure readiness for production launches.
- Monitor MCC and CADMT schedules, identifying deviations to keep projects on track.
- Assist Mechanical Engineering in planning design and prototype review sessions.
- Update engineering drawings according to feedback from prototype and sample review reports.
- Validate engineering drawings for BOM accuracy and ensure proper storage prior to manufacturing.
- Align electrical wiring diagrams, mechanical BOMs, and production drawings for consistency.
- Generate and verify BOMs for busbar product lines, ensuring precision and completeness.
- Create and manage new part records in Oracle, maintaining detailed documentation and tracking.
- Support BOM uploads into Oracle for Mechanical Engineering colleagues.
- Manage Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) and deviations within PLM to guarantee timely execution and integration with regional ERP systems.
- Review ECOs for completeness and allocate necessary tasks to ensure thorough processing in PLM.
- Maintain document control standards within PLM to protect system integrity.
- Develop and uphold documentation systems for the Mechanical Engineering team to enhance productivity.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to promote product standardization efforts.
- Perform additional tasks as assigned by supervisors to support departmental objectives.
Qualifications
- Preferably hold a degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
- Demonstrated experience working with engineering drawings and managing product BOMs.
- Exceptional attention to detail ensuring high accuracy in deliverables.
- Strong communication abilities and interpersonal skills to function effectively within cross-departmental teams.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Power BI alongside hands-on experience with ERP systems.
- Experience in creating and maintaining structured bills of materials within PLM and ERP environments is essential.
