Job description

Overview

KPMG Jamaica hosts the Jamaica Extended Support Services (JESS) delivery center in Kingston, dedicated to providing back-office support to its U.S. member firm. The Finance & Accounting function under JESS is expanding to enhance the Engagement Management Coordination (EMC) process. Team members collaborate closely with client stakeholders under an extended team framework to facilitate back-office operations.

The EMC process handles engagement and project management maintenance tasks, ensuring smooth coordination between team members and stakeholders.

Job Summary

The JESS EMC personnel perform a variety of tasks aligned with defined standard operating procedures issued by the client's EMC team. This includes assisting EMC representatives assigned to engagement partners or managing directors by collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data surrounding engagement accounting and risk management.

The EMC Team Lead reports directly to the JESS EMC Assistant Manager or Manager and may also take guidance from other Finance & Accounting client team members accountable for supported activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Enter engagement data into the SYNC application, covering setup, phase changes, billing, role assignments, profit center updates, and travel & expense adjustments.
  • Coordinate invoice maintenance with the Accounts Receivable team, including preparing replacement invoices, processing credit notes, cash reapplication, and issuing refund requests.
  • Provide copies of invoices upon request.
  • Calculate engagement gains or losses using the Aperture tool (Excel based).
  • Compile and submit monthly ERP/Close impact reports for Practice Leader approval.
  • Process ERP modifications, closeouts, and Work-in-Progress adjustments.
  • Generate and retrieve WIP, T&E details, and other ad-hoc reports from reporting systems.
  • Update Unbilled and Accounts Receivable tools with commentary on the Dallas Accounting Shared Center website.
  • Submit journal entries to correct charge discrepancies.
  • Create, edit, update, or close internal codes within systems.
  • Develop advanced knowledge of client policies, procedures, and software applications.
  • Promote and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, such as automation and procedural upgrades.
  • Maintain accuracy of SOP documentation, updating processes after any changes in policy or practices.
  • Identify operational or delivery challenges, escalating issues to Client stakeholders and the JESS Accounting Manager when needed.
  • Serve as a point of contact and collaborator for Client Executive Stakeholders and Process Owners regarding engagements.
  • Assist management in nurturing productive relationships between operational teams and program stakeholders.
  • Communicate process changes from EMC management effectively to team members.
  • Provide technical guidance and training to team members.
  • Conduct performance evaluations in line with firm policies.
  • Keep team members informed about operational changes and policy updates.
  • Mentor and encourage the professional growth and development of team members.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or equivalent professional accreditation.
  • Minimum of three years of relevant experience in Finance & Accounting or a comparable process.
  • At least two years of supervisory or management experience.

Special Conditions
