Overview
Barrick Mining Corporation, operating in Kalumbila, Zambia, seeks a dedicated Emergency Response Para/Field Medic to join their Occupational Health and Safety team. This role emphasizes integrity, accountability, results-orientation, and commitment to zero harm while fostering meaningful partnerships and sustainable legacy-building.
Key Responsibilities
- Promptly respond to all site emergencies to ensure swift and effective handling.
- Perform weekly planned maintenance and tasks as per training and skills.
- Maintain emergency vehicles and equipment in a constant state of readiness through thorough pre-start checks.
- Conduct routine testing of emergency response equipment weekly, monthly, and quarterly following standard operating procedures and manufacturer guidelines.
- Prepare weekly and quarterly reports to the Emergency Response supervisor detailing equipment status and emergency preparedness.
- Resolve emergency incidents efficiently and safely.
- Inspect, service, and maintain fixed fire systems on-site to guarantee operational readiness.
- Provide timely status updates on fixed fire systems to the Emergency Response supervisor.
- Adhere to safe working practices at all times.
Qualifications and Experience
- Completion of Grade 12/full School Certificate is mandatory.
- Diploma in Emergency Medical Care required.
- Minimum of one year professional experience in emergency medical care.
- Registration as a member of the Health Practitioner Council of Zambia (HPCZ).
- Post-qualification experience in rescue and emergency services, especially in mining, is an advantage.
- Nationally accredited certifications including Basic Firefighting and Basic Life Support are preferred.
- Experience in emergency medical services within the mining sector is desirable.
- Proficient computer skills.
- Possession of a valid driver’s license.
