Superintendent - Compensation & Benefits

About the Role

Lumwana Mining Company, part of Barrick Mining Corporation, is recruiting a dedicated and passionate Superintendent for Compensation and Benefits to join their Human Resources team at the Kalumbila site in North-Western Province, Zambia. Reporting to the Assistant Human Resources Manager, you will oversee the management of compensation, benefits, and the Human Resources Information System to ensure effective HR operations aligned with company policies.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the site’s compensation and benefits programs, ensuring alignment with established company policies and frameworks.
• Advise management regarding remuneration, salary positioning, employee benefits, and related compensation matters.
• Maintain and regularly review salary structures, scales, and remuneration practices to ensure fairness and competitiveness.
• Conduct remuneration benchmarking and analyze market trends to inform compensation decisions.
• Manage the site's job evaluation and grading processes systematically.
• Lead the complete annual compensation review cycle in partnership with HR leadership, coordinating salary adjustments, Short-Term and Long-Term Incentives eligibility, performance data, budgeting, market and CPI analysis, approval processes, payroll input, and preparation of employee compensation statements.
• Administer and govern Long-Term Incentive schemes including managing participant records, vesting schedules, compliance, tax considerations, and coordination across HR, Payroll, and regional teams.
• Manage production bonus schemes by reviewing, analyzing, and validating bonus calculations ensuring accuracy.
• Oversee the Human Resources Information System to guarantee employee and organizational data is accurate, complete, and updated promptly.
• Provide leadership, guidance, and coaching to personnel involved in Compensation, Benefits, and HRIS functions.

Candidate Qualifications and Requirements

• Possession of a Full Grade 12 School Certificate is mandatory.
• Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or a related field; possession of a Master’s degree is advantageous.
• At least eight years of significant Human Resources experience, including a minimum of three years in a leadership capacity specifically within Compensation and Benefits.
• Experience in the mining industry is highly desirable.
• Strong stakeholder management and excellent communication skills.
• Proficient numerical skills with advanced use of Microsoft Excel and data analysis capabilities.
• Comprehensive knowledge of Zambian Labour Laws.
• Demonstrated leadership in fostering safety culture and behavioral safety.
• Membership in the Zambia Institute of Human Resource Management is required.
• Must be a Zambian citizen.
