Role Summary

We are seeking an Electrician to join our Facilities team, managing electrical maintenance across our central Sydney properties including CBD, Redfern, Kensington, Darlinghurst, and Glebe. The role involves ensuring all electrical systems operate safely and efficiently, supporting Facilities Managers in providing students with secure and well-maintained accommodations.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance on electrical installations such as lighting, power distribution, and control systems to avoid unexpected failures.
• Identify and fix electrical problems using diagnostic tools; repair or replace faulty wiring, switches, breakers, power outlets, and lighting fixtures.
• Install, test, and commission new electrical equipment or upgrades during renovations, adhering strictly to AS/NZS 3000 Wiring Rules and applicable state laws.
• Keep comprehensive and accurate maintenance records, inspection documentation, and wiring diagrams up to date.
• Coordinate with Facilities Managers and maintenance teams to schedule tasks minimizing inconvenience to residents.
• Participate in a 7-day emergency on-call roster, swiftly responding to urgent repair demands outside normal hours.
• Advise on opportunities for energy efficiency improvements and suggest relevant system upgrades or replacements.

Candidate Profile

• Held a valid government-issued Electrical Licence appropriate for your state or territory.
• Experience in electrical maintenance, including proficiency with relevant power tools and equipment.
• In-depth electrical theory knowledge including power distribution systems (single and three-phase) and control circuitry.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematic diagrams, as-built plans, and technical manuals.
• Detail-oriented with capability to work independently and comply with instructions.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills for cross-team collaboration.
• Additional qualifications related to high-risk work, working at heights, or confined spaces are beneficial.
• Current First Aid certification (or willingness to attain) and a valid driver’s license.
