About the Role
A reputable electrical contracting firm is seeking an experienced Electrical Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial division. The appointed individual will oversee the financial and commercial facets of electrical projects from the tender phase through to project completion. This role requires close collaboration with project managers, engineers, clients, subcontractors, and suppliers. The position is permanent, full-time, and based in Tralee, County Kerry, Ireland.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage commercial and financial operations for electrical projects.
- Develop and assess project budgets, cost plans, and forecasts.
- Quantify and price electrical tasks using drawings, specifications, and tender documents.
- Compile tender submissions and evaluate quotations from subcontractors and suppliers.
- Track project expenditures, costs, and profitability metrics.
- Handle variations, additional work requests, and commercial claims.
- Prepare interim valuations and manage payment applications.
- Administer subcontractor accounts and payments.
- Support procurement activities and conduct supplier negotiations.
- Keep accurate cost and value reporting alongside commercial documentation.
- Prepare and negotiate final account settlements.
- Identify potential commercial risks and opportunities throughout project lifecycles.
- Collaborate with project and site teams to maintain tight commercial control on projects.
Candidate Requirements
- Possession of a relevant qualification in Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 3 years of quantity surveying or commercial experience within electrical contracting or mechanical & electrical (M&E) construction sectors.
- Strong understanding of electrical construction projects and their associated cost structures.
- Experienced with tendering processes, estimating, valuations, handling variations, and final account settlements.
- Competent in reading and interpreting electrical drawings and specifications.
- Excellent commercial acumen and negotiation skills.
- Meticulous attention to detail with strong organizational capabilities.
- Proficient with Microsoft Excel and general IT applications.
- Possession of a valid, full, clean driving license.
Minimum education
Bachelor's Degree
