Job description

Role Overview

The Electrical Estimator collaborates within the estimating division to prepare and compile bids and proposals for a range of electrical projects. This key role demands the formulation of precise cost estimates, organization of pricing information, and supporting management efforts to secure construction contracts.

Primary Duties

  • Calculate quantities and input data into digital estimating platforms.
  • Compile comprehensive estimates including labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
  • Prepare, evaluate, and submit all bid documents in compliance with project requirements.
  • Collect detailed labor cost breakdowns for budgeting and scheduling.
  • Participate in pre-bid, site visits, and post-bid meetings as necessary.
  • Engage in turnover sessions with project teams for planning and budgeting purposes.
  • Develop and maintain strong supplier and subcontractor relationships to ensure competitive pricing.
  • Analyze project schematics and contribute to crafting bid strategies.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of five years' experience in electrical estimating.
  • At least three years on P3 and Design-Build projects.
  • Post-secondary diploma in electrical or construction technology or equivalent practical experience.
  • Familiarity with Accubid; knowledge of Livecount and Bluebeam is advantageous.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication capabilities.
  • Effective time management skills with capacity to prioritize tasks under pressure.
  • Highly motivated, self-disciplined, and eager to learn.
  • Ability to collaborate efficiently within teams.
  • Must hold or be eligible for Canadian government security clearance.

Additional Preferences:

  • Professional certifications such as Certified Quantity Surveyor or Certified Construction Estimator.
  • Previous experience in electrical contracting trades.
  • Proficiency with advanced estimating software tools.
