Electrical Design Estimator

About the Role

Ventia is seeking two skilled Electrical Design Estimators to join its Electricity & Gas team based in Hamilton. The role involves electrical design, estimating, tendering, and providing ongoing project support to ensure successful delivery.

Primary Responsibilities

• Prepare precise electrical estimates, tenders, and quotations for power infrastructure projects
• Create compliant, practical electrical designs aligned with project requirements
• Review project drawings, specifications, and contractual documents for accuracy
• Identify potential risks, pricing opportunities, and appropriate estimating techniques
• Assist in project planning, mobilisation, and delivery processes
• Compile design documentation, tender submissions, and handover packages
• Foster strong working relationships with clients, suppliers, and project teams

Candidate Requirements

• At least 5 years of experience in electrical design, estimating, or project delivery-related roles
• Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and contract documentation with proficiency
• Commercial acumen with a strong background in cost estimating
• Excellent communication skills with an aptitude for stakeholder engagement
• Electrical trade qualification or equivalent industrial experience
• Current Class 1 New Zealand Driver Licence
• Registered electrician status in New Zealand with an active Practising Licence
• Proficiency with CAD/AutoCAD software
• Experience using SAP software
