About the Role
Ventia is searching for two proactive Traffic Controllers to join their Wellington team based in Moonshine Valley. This hands-on role offers diverse outdoor work where you play an essential part in maintaining safe, efficient traffic flow around various road and civil construction sites. You'll be responsible for setting up, monitoring, and dismantling temporary traffic management systems, assisting work crews, and ensuring the safety of both workers and road users.
Responsibilities
- Establishing and removing traffic management setups at worksites
- Conducting Stop/Go traffic control operations
- Ensuring smooth and secure movement of traffic
- Supporting road maintenance and civil construction teams with laboring tasks
- Completing necessary traffic management documents and site inspections
- Reporting site incidents, hazards, or changes promptly
- Guiding and mentoring trainees when needed
Candidate Requirements
- Possession of a valid New Zealand Class 1 driver’s license (Class 2 is a plus)
- Temporary Traffic Management qualification is essential
- Demonstrated dedication to health and safety standards
- Ability and enthusiasm to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Reliability, flexibility, and strong teamwork skills
- Effective communication abilities
- Prior experience in traffic control, roadworks, or civil construction is advantageous
