Job description
Role Overview
The Driver is responsible for providing safe and dependable transportation for authorized individuals, ensuring proper vehicle upkeep, and supporting administrative and facility operations. The role requires professionalism, courteous interaction, and discretion, with the ability to work effectively in multicultural settings.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide timely, secure transportation for designated personnel, including the handling of cargo or hazardous materials when applicable.
- Collect and deliver mails, documents, and other required items efficiently.
- Welcome and assist assigned personnel at the airport, facilitating immigration and customs procedures.
- Maintain precise daily vehicle logs and contribute to maintenance scheduling and usage reporting.
- Conduct routine vehicle inspections such as checking oil, water, battery, brakes, and tires to keep vehicles in safe, operable condition.
- Perform minor vehicle repairs and coordinate more extensive servicing when necessary.
- Ensure all assigned vehicles are clean and always roadworthy.
- Safeguard and manage all necessary vehicle documentation and supplies, including insurance papers, registration, maps, first aid kits, and spare parts.
- Take appropriate and immediate actions according to organizational policies in case of vehicle accidents.
- Support administrative and support services by assisting in procurement, including obtaining supply quotations.
- Inventory and manage office supplies and equipment, including inspection and distribution.
- Assist in facility management tasks such as coordinating minor repairs, communicating with service providers, and maintaining service rosters.
- Monitor and assist in maintaining office equipment performance and utility services follow-up.
- Respond in a timely manner to maintenance and repair requests from authorized personnel.
Educational Qualifications
Applicants should have completed secondary education or equivalent with at least two years of relevant experience, or hold a bachelor's degree in any discipline with no required experience. Completion of driver training and possession of a valid driver’s license are mandatory.
Experience Requirements
Relevant experience should include safe and defensive driving and basic vehicle repair knowledge. Familiarity with driving regulations is essential.
Preferred Experience
Experience working in multicultural environments or with UN-type organizations in developing countries is advantageous. Background in development or humanitarian work is also preferred.
