Overview
The Driver role involves providing secure and dependable transportation services for authorized staff, overseeing vehicle upkeep, and assisting with administrative and facility-related duties. The individual must demonstrate professionalism, respect, and discretion while collaborating effectively across diverse cultural settings.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure timely and safe transport of authorized personnel and, when necessary, cargo or hazardous materials.
- Handle mail and document deliveries as required.
- Greet and assist designated personnel at the airport, helping with immigration and customs processes.
- Keep precise daily vehicle logs and contribute to maintenance scheduling and usage reports.
- Conduct routine vehicle inspections including checking oil, water, battery, brakes, and tires to maintain vehicle reliability.
- Perform minor vehicle repairs and coordinate major repairs when necessary.
- Maintain cleanliness and ensure vehicles remain roadworthy at all times.
- Manage all essential vehicle documents and supplies, such as insurance papers, registrations, logs, maps, office directories, first aid kits, and spare parts.
- React promptly and appropriately according to organizational policies if an accident occurs.
- Support administrative and support services with procurement activities, including acquiring quotations for office materials.
- Inspect, distribute, and track inventory of office supplies and equipment.
- Assist facility management with minor repairs, liaising with technicians, and managing service provider rosters.
- Oversee maintenance of office equipment to ensure proper functioning and timely utility service follow-ups.
- Respond swiftly to repair and maintenance requests from authorized personnel.
Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum secondary education or equivalent with at least two years of relevant experience or a Bachelor's degree in any field with no prior experience.
- Completion of driver's training along with holding a valid driver's license is mandatory.
- Practical experience in safe and defensive driving as well as minor vehicle maintenance is required.
- Comprehensive knowledge of traffic laws and regulations is essential.
- Preference for candidates with past experience in multicultural environments or working within UN system organizations in developing countries.
- Experience in development or humanitarian sectors is advantageous.
