Job description

Overview

This role, reporting to the District Manager, is tasked with developing daily operational schedules and collaborating with the Operations team to fulfill client service requirements effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Manage dispatch functions for industrial cleaning services in St. John's by maintaining continuous communication with clients, operators, supervisors, and management personnel.
  • Plan, schedule, and coordinate asset use and personnel deployment efficiently.
  • Schedule work assignments accounting for employee skills, abilities, mandated training, and adherence to the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
  • Serve as a liaison between various operational departments ensuring cohesion and coordination.
  • Maximize usage of all equipment, including trucks and trailers.
  • Optimize utilization of human resources to ensure operational efficiency.
  • Handle all incoming dispatch calls and inquiries as the initial point of contact.
  • Prepare and circulate the daily operational schedule to management.
  • Manage coordination of equipment maintenance and necessary repairs.
  • Process work orders to maintain workflow.
  • Ensure a zero-harm work environment by strictly following all environmental, health, and safety regulations at all times.
  • Participate in the after-hours/on-call schedule as required.
  • Engage in toolbox talks and safety meetings to promote workplace safety.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Three to five years of experience in dispatch or field operations, ideally within an industrial context.
  • Bachelor’s degree or a comparable combination of education and experience.
  • Preferred knowledge of TDGA, Regulation 347/558, and related hazardous waste handling and transportation regulations.
  • Experience in industrial cleaning operations such as vacuum services, hydro blasting, and tank cleaning is a plus.
  • Strong leadership capabilities complemented by excellent communication and interpersonal skills to facilitate cross-functional collaboration.
  • Commitment to safety initiatives in workplace responsibilities.
  • Proficient with computer software; experience with ERP and automated dispatch systems is advantageous.
  • Exceptional organizational, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to operate with minimal oversight while maintaining quality and safety standards.
  • Understanding of waste management equipment functionalities.
  • Flexible and capable of managing changing priorities and multitasking effectively.
  • Experience working with a unionized workforce and familiarity with collective bargaining agreements is beneficial.
  • High energy, self-driven with a positive outlook.
