Job description
Overview
The Dietary Aide role at Pacific Villas Post Acute involves supporting food service operations under the supervision of the Cook and Dietary Supervisor. Responsibilities vary based on shift activity and emphasize maintaining cleanliness, food preparation support, and operational compliance.
Core Duties
- Quickly learn and execute food service routines.
- Arrange meal trays for service.
- Clear and wash returned trays promptly.
- Assist in distributing meals to residents.
- Monitor and log chlorine levels and water temperatures of dishwashing machines at shift start and throughout dishwashing processes.
- Operate dishwashing equipment safely and efficiently.
- Prepare nourishment and snacks as needed.
- Maintain kitchen cleanliness including sweeping, mopping, and trash removal.
- Properly store groceries in a hygienic and organized fashion.
- Sanitize work surfaces, refrigerators, and floors.
- Collaborate and assist kitchen staff as required, including during orientation and ongoing training sessions.
- Adapt and cooperate effectively with personnel across different departments.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent educational background required.
- Ability to read and interpret technical procedures and recipes accurately.
- Effective communication skills for interaction with management and staff.
- Basic math skills involving fractions, percentages, and ratios.
- Problem-solving capabilities and ability to follow varied written and verbal instructions.
- Must obtain and maintain a valid food handlers' certificate.
Physical Requirements
- Frequent standing and walking with occasional sitting.
- Regular reaching, pushing, and pulling motions.
- Frequent talking, hearing, tasting, and smelling required.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds frequently.
- Occasional climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.
- Visual abilities including near and distance vision, color perception, peripheral and depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
