Janitor

Overview

This role involves ensuring an adequate supply of clean linens to provide comfort and care for all residents. Duties include maintaining linen quality by removing damaged items, handling residents' laundry needs daily, and properly labeling new clothing. The janitor will be responsible for cleaning, treating, washing, drying, folding, and delivering laundry items to resident rooms while following all sanitation protocols.

Primary Responsibilities

• Provide sufficient clean linen for resident care and comfort.
• Maintain linen condition by removing any with holes or stains from use.
• Collect residents' laundry daily or as needed and label new clothing items.
• Sort, treat, wash, dry, fold, and deliver clean laundry to resident rooms.
• Follow all sanitary procedures related to laundry tasks.
• Keep an inventory of laundry supplies and safely use laundry equipment.
• Report any laundry equipment problems to the Administrator.

Qualifications and Skills

• Minimum education: GED or High School Diploma.
• Preferred experience: at least one year in a relevant role.
• Ability to understand and follow written directions related to laundry and housekeeping.
• Basic mathematical skills.
• Problem-solving skills with ability to ask for assistance when necessary.
• No certifications required.

Physical and Work Environment Demands

• Occasional lifting/moving of up to 50 pounds.
• Tasks involve sitting, standing, walking, talking, reading, and hearing regularly.
• Frequent use of industrial washers, dryers, and laundry equipment.
• Work environment noise level is generally low to moderate.

Additional Information

• This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
• Management may assign or reassign duties at any time.
• Compensation ranges from $18.00 to $20.00 per hour.
